Detox at Ojai Recovery is the first phase of residential admission, not a separate service. You’re admitted to our campus in Oak View, stabilized under medical supervision, and moved into residential programming when your clinical team says you’re ready, without a discharge, a transfer, or a second intake.
Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids carries real medical risk. Our team assesses that risk before you arrive and monitors it continuously once you do.
Before admission, the admissions team reviews the substances involved, withdrawal history, current health concerns and whether Ojai Recovery’s detox setting may be appropriate.
Before admission. Our clinical team reviews your substance use history, current dose and frequency, prior withdrawal episodes, medical conditions, and any psychiatric medications. This determines whether detox at our level of care is appropriate for you or whether you need a hospital setting first. We tell you that answer directly rather than admitting you and finding out later.
During detox. You receive a full medical evaluation on arrival, followed by round-the-clock nursing observation. Vital signs and withdrawal symptoms are scored on a structured scale, and your protocol is adjusted based on what those scores show — not on a fixed schedule. Where clinically indicated, Medication-Assisted Treatment is used to manage symptoms and reduce the risk of complications.
How long it takes. Most clients stabilize within three to seven days, though this varies considerably by substance, dose, and duration of use. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal generally require the longest monitoring window because of seizure risk.
We provide detox services for individuals struggling with.
Safe detox to manage withdrawal risks.
(Heroin, fentanyl, painkillers) 24/7 care for a safer, easier withdrawal.
(Xanax, Ativan, Valium) Gradual detox for safety and comfort.
Personalized care for medication dependence.
(Cocaine, methamphetamine) Support through cravings and mood shifts.
THC detox for irritability, insomnia, and appetite loss.
Comprehensive detox for multiple substances.
Alcohol withdrawal can be challenging and, at times, dangerous without proper care. Our alcohol detox program provides a safe and supportive environment where symptoms are carefully managed.
Our drug detox services are tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. Whether it is opioids, stimulants, or other substances, our team of addiction specialists provides personalized care couched in evidence-based practices.
Drug and alcohol detox is safest when it happens under the watchful care of professionals. Our medical team is present around the clock to monitor progress, manage symptoms, and respond quickly to any concerns.
Every client receives a full health assessment upon admission. Our medical team provides 24/7 supervision, adjusting protocols and medications as needed to manage symptoms and prevent complications.
We never treat clients as "addicts" or reduce them to their substance use. You are a whole person, deserving of respect. Our team supports you with compassion, clear communication, and personal care at every stage.
Once you stabilize, you can seamlessly transition into our residential program. There’s no gap, no need to relocate, and no disruption to your healing momentum.
Unlike clinical detox centers that feel cold or institutional, Ojai Recovery offers a setting designed to soothe, ground, and nurture your nervous system. Here, healing begins with:
Healing begins in a setting that feels open and restorative. Our detox spaces offer natural light and direct access to the outdoors, helping clients feel grounded and at ease.
Peaceful garden paths and reflection areas provide opportunities for stillness, allowing clients to rest, breathe, and begin their journey with clarity.
Comfortable, private rooms are designed to promote rest and safety, while our care team provides individualized support every step of the way.
Clients are invited (but never pressured) to connect with staff or peers. Gentle, optional engagement ensures support is available while honoring each person’s pace of recovery.
The clinical argument for detoxing where you’ll be treated is continuity. Clients who detox at a standalone facility have to be discharged, transported, and re-admitted somewhere else, and a meaningful number never complete that second step. Here, the transition is a change in programming, not a change in address.
Our medical staff is highly trained and present around the clock, ensuring safety, comfort, and expert care throughout the detox process.
Detox doesn’t have to feel clinical. We provide continuous support in a peaceful environment designed to reduce stress and promote healing.
Detox can feel overwhelming, but you are never alone. Our compassionate team offers guidance, reassurance, and encouragement at every stage.
Every client is met with dignity and understanding. We honor your story and support your recovery without judgment.
Our medical detox program is just the beginning of your recovery journey. We can connect you with outpatient programs like 12-step meetings and alumni groups. Lasting recovery isn't built in isolation—it's sustained through community and connection.
